📝 Role Summary

As an MHPSS Officer, you will provide psychosocial and protection services to vulnerable populations and support capacity building at primary health care and community levels. You will play a vital role in delivering quality mental health and protection interventions.

✅ Key Responsibilities

• 🧠 Conduct psychological assessments and plan interventions
• 🔐 Maintain a safe and confidential environment for mental health services
• 👥 Facilitate both individual and group therapeutic sessions
• 🔁 Refer clients to specialized services when needed
• 📋 Follow-up on quality of care and protection concerns
• ❤️ Provide staff care and emotional support to frontline workers
• 👨‍🏫 Prepare and deliver training sessions for health staff
• 📊 Contribute to data collection, monitoring, and evaluation
• 📁 Ensure confidentiality and maintain accurate documentation
• 🤝 Collaborate with other ACF departments
• 🗣 Represent Action Against Hunger at local coordination meetings

🧠 Required Skills

• Excellent communication, listening, and observation skills
• High empathy, tolerance, and adaptability
• Deep sensitivity to confidentiality and protection issues
• Strong teamwork and autonomous working ability
• Solid knowledge of local customs, norms, and languages
• Proficient in English (spoken and written); Hausa is an added advantage

🎓 Educational & Professional Requirements

• 🎓 Postgraduate degree in psychology or counseling

  (Master’s degree in clinical psychology or mental health counseling is a strong asset)

• 🧰 At least 2 years of experience in Mental Health, Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Protection, or Care Practices
