🔍 Role Summary
Join Save the Children in improving health outcomes for children and families! The WASH Officer will support the Nutrition and Child Protection Project in Adamawa by assessing, repairing, and improving water and sanitation infrastructure, ensuring safe access to water, and promoting hygiene.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
✅ Conduct WASH assessments with other sectors
✅ Design and supervise water supply and sanitation projects
✅ Monitor borehole drilling and facility rehabilitation
✅ Lead Child Safeguarding Risk Assessments for all constructions
✅ Organize training for Water User Committees
✅ Conduct water quality tests and monitoring
✅ Train and supervise local water technicians
✅ Coordinate procurement of WASH materials
✅ Prepare and implement weekly construction plans
✅ Work closely with local WASH authorities (RUWASSA, LGAs)
✅ Integrate WASH into all SCI training programs
✅ Carry out advocacy visits and support evaluations
✅ Provide WASH input in donor proposals and technical reports
🧠 Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong team and contractor management
- Good reporting and M&E skills
- Knowledge of SPHERE standards in WASH
- Excellent planning, communication, and fieldwork resilience
- Proficiency in MS Office & AutoCAD
🎓 Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's in Civil/Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related fields
- 2–3 years of experience in WASH and construction programming
