About the Role


PATH’s Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA) is seeking a Program Officer to support the Malaria Vaccine Project (MalVac) in Nigeria. The project focuses on assisting the Nigerian government in introducing and scaling up the malaria vaccine as part of its immunization strategy.


This position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria, and will report to the Nigeria Project Lead. The Program Officer will play a critical role in planning, implementation, and monitoring activities related to the malaria vaccine rollout.


Key Responsibilities


Vaccine Planning & Implementation


Support project execution, including work planning, budgeting, and reporting.


Collaborate with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), and other stakeholders.


Facilitate training programs and organize key events related to malaria vaccine introduction.


Provide technical support for monitoring, reporting, and evaluation.


Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)


Assist in developing tools for monitoring the vaccine introduction process.


Set up data collection systems and ensure quality assurance.


Conduct data audits and contribute to adaptive learning approaches.


Provide technical assistance to sub-national immunization teams.


Travel within Nigeria as needed for project activities.


Qualifications & Experience


Advanced degree in public health or a related field.


Minimum of 5 years of experience in immunization programs and vaccine introduction.


Strong knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and data quality assurance in public health programs.


Experience working with government agencies, WHO, UNICEF, and other health organizations.


Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and data analysis tools like Excel, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.


Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
