✨ About MSF in Katsina
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a private, non‑profit international humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to populations in distress, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.
MSF has been active in Katsina since February 2021 and is currently running:
✅ An Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) in Kofar Sauri PHCC
✅ 4 Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centres (ATFCs) in Jibia LGA and Katsina City
✅ A food distribution intervention in Mashi LGA to address critical nutritional needs.
📌 Position
Health Promoter Community Engagement Supervisor – Mashi
🎯 Main Purpose
With support and guidance from the HPCE Manager, you will:
✔️ Implement the HPCE strategy/workplan with community participation
✔️ Supervise HPCE activities and teams in communities or health facilities
✔️ Uphold MSF values, standards, and procedures in all activities.
📝 Key Responsibilities
📌 HPCE Strategy & Activities
- ✏️ Contribute to the design and adaptation of the HPCE strategy/workplan
- 📊 Lead and monitor implementation of the HPCE strategy according to timeline
- 🤝 Support participatory approaches with patients and community members
- 🗣 Organize health awareness sessions for MSF staff
- 🧩 Assist in design and translation of health education materials
- 📋 Collect, encode and report community feedback and rumors
- 🔍 Support community-based surveillance, active case finding, tracing and linkage to care
- 📅 Plan and organize community meetings with local stakeholders
- 🖊 Contribute to community mapping, data collection and reporting
📌 Team Management & Supervision
- 👥 Supervise and coach HP officers and team members
- 📚 Contribute to evaluation, training and development plans for HP staff
- 📌 Organize HP team meetings, rosters and schedules
- ✅ Ensure smooth coordination with other teams during activities and food distribution
📌 Mashi Project Specific Accountabilities
- 📍 Map and liaise with key community actors (leaders, women groups, NGOs, youth groups)
- 🔔 Disseminate safeguarding messages and abuse policies to staff, community and beneficiaries
- 📌 Ensure proper communication of MSF’s free food distribution activities
- 🗂 Support training of trainers and follow-up on HP team’s training replication
- 🧾 Collect relevant data, track rumors, misinformation, and security incidents
- ✨ Develop IEC materials and organize post-distribution assessments
✅ Requirements
📖 Education
- 🎓 Desirable: Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing or related field
- 📌 Essential: Secondary School Diploma
💼 Experience
- ✔️ At least 2 years in health promotion
- ✔️ Experience in team management and program implementation
- 🌟 Experience in qualitative methodology is a plus
💻 Knowledge & Skills
- ✅ Basic Word and Excel
- ✅ Results and quality orientation
- ✅ Team management and training skills
- ✅ Stress management and community negotiation skills
- ✅ Strong IT and reporting skills
- ✅ Hausa and English are essential
