Main Purpose of the Role
To provide nursing care, treatment, and follow-up to patients according to doctor’s prescriptions and MSF protocols, ensuring high-quality, continuous care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Medical Support
- Follow universal hygiene and infection prevention protocols.
- Assist with consultations, medical rounds, and treatments.
- Educate patients and families on health practices.
- Identify and refer victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
- Triage patients and provide emergency care when needed.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate patient records and statistics.
- Ensure proper handovers between shifts.
- Participate in pharmacy inventories and stock control.
Equipment & Supplies
- Ensure functionality of biomedical equipment.
- Organize and maintain care materials and stock.
- Supervise cleaning and sterilization practices.
Supervision & Training
- Train and supervise nurse assistants, cleaners, and related staff.
- Work collaboratively with medical and support teams.
Gwange Pediatric Hospital Specifics
Nurses may rotate across units:
Triage, ER, ICU, Isolation, Orange, Yellow, Observation.
Expectations:
- Strictly follow MSF admission and infection control protocols.
- Maintain smooth patient flow and hygiene standards.
- Daily medical rounds and proper implementation of treatments.
- Participate in immunization awareness and lifestyle education.
Requirements
Education:
- Essential: Recognized nursing diploma or degree.
- Desirable: BSc in Nursing.
Experience:
- Preferred: Minimum 2 years, ideally in NGO or hospital settings.
- Supervisory experience an advantage.
Languages:
- Essential: English, Hausa, Kanuri (oral and written).

Contract Details
- 208 working hours per month
- Includes 13th-month allowance equivalent to 1 month's gross salary
