Position Overview
Title: Nutrition Supervisor
Duty Station: Sokoto – Noma Children’s Hospital & Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC)
Main Objective:
To implement and coordinate all nutrition-related activities and supervise the nutrition team, ensuring high-quality care for the target population.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accountabilities
- Plan & oversee all nutrition services (staffing, budgeting, and service quality)
- Recruit, train & supervise the nutrition team
- Monitor outpatient nutrition programs and patient progress
- Ensure proper medical equipment usage and staff training
- Supervise hygiene and nursing care standards
- Educate mothers on child care (feeding, hygiene, etc.)
- Manage nutrition stock in collaboration with pharmacy
- Collect and report statistical data
Project-Specific Tasks
- Manage Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases in Noma Hospital & ITFC
- Participate in daily ward rounds
- Implement treatment and nutrition plans
- Train and supervise kitchen and nutrition staff
- Ensure Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) compliance
- Provide family counseling and nutrition education
Eligibility Criteria
Education
- Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Desirable: Diploma in Nutrition
Experience
- Minimum 2 years as a Nutrition Nurse
Languages
- English and Hausa fluency is essential
Skills & Competencies
- Teamwork and result-orientation
- Behavioral flexibility
- Stress management
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel) is an advantage
